Go Red For Women
Women can learn about heart health at a catered dinner in a fun-filled atmosphere.
The American Heart Association hosts its annual Go Red for Women event in West Tennessee on March 22 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for sponsors, 6:30 p.m. for individual ticket holders, with the dinner beginning at 7 p.m.
The dinner encourages local women to take charge of their heart health by making it a top priority, so they can live stronger, longer lives. This event will be informative and fun, according to a press release from the American Heart Association. The catered dinner will be made with recipes from the American Heart Association’s “Simple Cooking with Heart” recipe site at heart.org. The evening will include a fantastic fashion show hosted by Macy’s, national sponsor for the event.
The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement uncovers the truth about heart disease — an often silent, hidden and misunderstood killer — so that all women can share the truth. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in America today. Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and the leading cause of serious, long-term disability. One in three women die of cardiovascular disease, more than all forms of cancers combined.
“Women do not realize they are at risk. We have to change the numbers,” Go Red For Women Event Chair Jon Ewing said in the release.
The Go Red for Women movement brings attention to the threat of heart disease to women while creating a call to action for all women to commit to living a heart healthy lifestyle. In Tennessee, the American Heart Association has been a leader in this national campaign, helping support an emotional, informative and inspirational atmosphere to encourage women to become champions of their own good health.
Tickets for the West Tennessee Go Red For Women event are a gift of $100 payable in advance. To purchase tickets or for information on sponsoring, call (731) 267-8479 or visit westtngored.heart.org.
